I walked round an old cemetery today and looking at some of the inscriptions made me wonder about religious attitudes today. When gay and lesbian christian couples come to be interred,if that's what they choose,will the churches and cemeteries allow them to be buried in the same grave? And will they allow mention of it being a same-sex relationship appear on the headstone? Now we have civil partnerships in the UK,full marriage in Canada and some State marriage in the US,this situation will start to happen.

Interesting... I doubt my gf and I have any chance of being buried together just due to the fact that we are of different religions.

Wouldn't work She is very committed to her religion and would never agree to be being anywhere except a jewish cemetary. She has made it clear that she puts her religion before me.

Wow! Religion has come so far in the past 10 years or so. Cool.

I found the Jews to be very accepting of different lifestyles. I think all except orthodox Jews are pretty accepting, they may not agree with it but they do not persecute or exclude. In general, they are very educated as their religion places great value in education. I have found, in general, the more educated folks are the less of a problem with others being different.

Quite sad, actually.. anyone who puts anyone or anything before one's partner, is not worthy to be a partner. religiosity forces humans to choose myth over reality... using the age old scare tactic of a hell that does not exist. sad. really sad.

Does judaism believe in Hell? I thought it was about purgatory? No heaven, no hell? I could be talking out my rear here, because I haven't studied it too closely, just talked to a few friends about it.

No, it just ends.... that's it. Buddhist do not believe in hell either. Most native religions don't believe in hell either. I think hell is a Christian value.

I didn't know that.. My grandfather was a Southern Baptist Reverand. So I grew up with hell's fire and brimstone being my boogie man.

I am a bit of a seeker actually, I am a LOT of a seeker and I find myself on a spritual quest. I have studied lots of different religions, tried some on.... left most, am finding my own way, my own path to enlightenment. Currently, I am reading Neale Donald Walsch's books and finding them extremely interesting. He shares a view that all our emotions stem from really only two places.... fear and love. That really hit home with me today, as I can sense someone I care about starting to get involved in a romance (we don't talk or email as much, just short clips here and there and much less personal, basiy one liners). My initial reaction was just to cut the cord, be done, go on.... I thought of it as simply my loner side, don't need anybody-- take care of yourself, etc. Actually that is a place of fear.. fear she won't want or need my friendship any longer when I should be coming from a place of love.... being happy and excited for her, continueing to give and be open. I am a long way from enlightment, but I am looking and I have less and less fear in my life. Explore your world.

I like that... That makes sense to me, and sounds so simplified. I am an emotional person, and I have such a hard time determining what I am feeling, at times. And where that particular emotion is coming from. Fear and love. That is so true...Hmmm

It really is THAT simple, which intrigues me. We complicate things so much!
