Glory Days Yes. You should be flashing back to Bruce right now. ;) Being extremely new to the forum (about 2 weeks) I have no idea what the glory days were. For those of you around: wax nostalgic, run wild with invective. What made them the glory days?

is the perfect moment when you are with the one you love...and you don't have to be in a fancy restaurant or a million dollar view nor a very extravagant gift...but just cherishing the moment that your TOGETHER.

Does it really matter? I mean, many people have their nostalgic reason(s) for harkening back to an earlier era. But what may be the 'glory days' to them would not be so for others (even those who were there) or perhaps for you (had you been there). Let them harken back and speak of how wonderful it was. But let them please not share why. I matters not, to me, and as far as I am concerned...all days are glory days and all holes are glory holes. (bring on those red slappy neg-rating hands - my ass is bare!;)

standards? like what? I'm relatively new too, only since October 2005. But I've been online since before there was a web with graphics, back when it was just text-only email and Usenet. We could -really- get into what's different nowadays if you like... ;-( Seriously though, what gets people to talk is going to differ a lot, no? I'm allergic to alcohol, so I never bother reading the many alcohol/bar/clubbing threads because I have zero context for understanding them, and also have no idea what all your relationships are to each other. Same goes for the (cue antipersonal ad...) online flirting, I know most people love that kind of stuff but I'm not one of them. No big deal, as with the alcohol, it leaves more for everyone else. If I want to see other conversations, I could start them myself, but I'd rather make my braincells fight with each other to write a reply instead. What do you want to talk about?

where did you start? Me: gaynet, and rec.games.video.arcade. The latter before the former, when Street Fighter II first saw release, so that would be 1991. My favorite usenet group name is still alt.buddha.short.fat.guy, hehehe.

i lurked on alt.buddha.short.fat.guy! don't remember it much, just the name. started w/ BBSs sometime around '86 usenets in college (early '90s) to entertain myself while I worked. mostly read the jokes and sci-fi and some of the news groups. started irc back then too...it's so different now. (I don't irc much these days, #lesbian channels have more drama than daytime soaps.) back then you connected through telnet, now there are programs like mIrc and ircle. now I'm getting all nostalgic.

drama's unavoidable I think I did irc for maybe a year or two. And yes, through telnet. 8-) If it's any consolation, there was plenty of drama in arcade games too, especially once the tourneys became part of the scene with the advent of fighting games. Though I suppose there was a saving grace... het boy gamers tend to be simple creatures who don't rent U-Hauls. Though they sure did have their own arrested development issues. ;-(
