Silverbells, there are arguments over the %age of introverts out there. Some say around 25% while others say 50%. Obviously tough to gauge anecdotally as the extroverts would be the ones you inherently notice and remember and meet out more.

well, before you can settle that argument... ...you need a common definition of "introvert." And, it seems everyone has their own idea of what one is. But, if you were to use the MBTI definition, you could probably get a pretty close number. I don't honestly remember what it is, but it's nowhere near 0. More like 25-30, I think.

i can fake being extroverted pretty well. but only for short periods of time.

why bother...? ...there is absolutely nothing wrong with being an introvert.

certain professional situations require my appearance of being "socially adjusted" on my own time i'm much more reclusive.

OK, there's something that needs to be said... ...introverts are NO less "socially adjusted" than extroverts. Period. I don't understand where this stigma against introverts comes from. But it absolutely, positively does NOT mean you can't perform in the workplace just as well as anyone else. Well...unless you're a pole dancer, maybe...

i perform fine at work. but it is extra work for me to be outgoing and personable when dealing with the public and coworkers.

Because some circumstances require you to be a bit more outgoing than others.... I am required to keep up a happy, bubbly front at work all day, talking and providing good customer service. After 8-10 hours, I am emotionally exhausted, and have a hard time dealing with , parents, friends, etc. I need a new job. :/
