To fade or not to fade...
I don't think a "break-up" is appropriate or ed for if you've gone on a couple of dates. Firstly, honesty can be much more cruel than fading. A fade is far kinder than "sorry, but you're much shorter/fatter/older/balder than your MySpace-angled dating profile picture" or "your mannerisms give me the creeps." Sure, you could lie, or give some generic excuse, but you'd be amazed at how many people will press you for further details if you're so vague enough to not be cruel. And why should the onus of lying/couching the truth be on the person that's not into it? Bottom line, how much do you really "owe" someone you went on a couple of dates with? Who, at best, you didn't feel a spark for, and at worst, who was offensive or embarrassing to be in public with? Bottom line, I suppose, is that dating isn't for pussies.
