Religion and kink... How many of you consider yourselves religious, and do those religious beliefs contradict the things you enjoy kink-wise?

Im semi religious. No, it doesn't contradict my kink. I keep both areas separated.

I am a former Catholic and non-believer. However, all that catholic school dogma has seriously informed my kinks. One of my major kinks is profaning the sacred.

i was raised catholic and alot of what i do sexually and fantasize about are frowned upon big time in the church community

I keep trying to figure out what was so different about my upbringing in the Catholic church that I have always felt fine with them together. Mybe I didn't pay attention, or maybe it was the sex ed class given by the elder nun. I don't see the frowned upon part.

2nd this I was raised catholic, but don't really go to church now not because I have denounced it, just don't go to church. I really haven't had an issue with my religion getting in the way of my kink.

treading on thin ice? I think this dicussion may not be one that flows together well...kink vs religion....or anything vs religion...probably isn't going to end well...without someone getting their ideas or beliefs slammed....

I appreciate your consideration of others... but part of this forum is seeing how we can discuss challenging topics in a civil manner. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but the fact that folks from all over can have a discussion such as this in an anonymous forum is very cool. So far, this thread has proven we can do it!

to my suprise this discussion has taken a different direction than that I originally predicted. Good for this forum!! I am truly amazed that noone has had their feeling hurt yet!! I am still going to respectfully bow out of this one...haha...cause I would be the one to ruin this for someone...hahaha

I am sure there is a fine line, but even though I am not overly religious, I do believe, and I don't think it interferes with my kink.

I would have to say that I am more spiritual than religious. I don't struggle with my bedroom antics and my faith. My opinion is that GOD doesn't care how crazy you get in the bed. So long as it is consentual of course.

I consider myself religious most of my life was spent as a Catholic but i have recently switched to a protestant church . Religion speaks of love and acceptance and commitment which is exactly the things that go into the kink i practice so in no way do i see those things in conflict with one another at this point . As a Catholic however that obviously was in direct conflict with the what was the churches practices . In the end i think most christians believe that the way they live there life treat other people and there loved ones is what matters the most to who we believe in and what gauges our compliance for lack of a better word.
