So fucking wrong...I know a family with 7 and it actually repulses me to some degree - odd seeing as I have 1 of my own - but talk about overpopulating an already maxxed out planet! Fucking idiots. I shuddered at the documentary and the very apparent absence of individuality among the children. I just felt so sad for them all.

I think it is kind of sad how the don't really have childhoods - they do all the chores in the house PLUS each older kid is completely responsible for one of the younger . At least one of the older (I think the oldest son) said he did not want to have of his own as an adult b/c he has already raised . I dunno, the whole releasing their tiny Christian warrior spawn onto the world thing is troubling. And with 20 , the odds are high that at least one will be gay or lesbian. What then? I think the mom Michelle is fairly amazing. She seems genuinely sweet and gentle. I don't think she thinks for herself much (or at all) but she does seem like a sweetheart, I guess. I can't believe how young she looks too.

Yeah, I felt conflicted about the mother I liked her, she seems sensible and genuinely kind and intelligent. But she has so completely surrendered herself to his will and his agenda (they both acknowledge that he is the undisputed leader of the family, he makes the decisions and his decisions are final). I just can't see one healthy human being ceding so completely to another, not for any reason save perhaps life-and-death survival, where absolute submission is necessary to survival (the Holocaust and the devastation of Native Americans and other offenses of genocide and ethnic cleansing come to mind). Given that her self-proclaimed rationale for submission is for religions propagation, well to me there's something disturbing and alarmingly pathalogical about that.

so, recently i've heard stories of both liberals and conservatives having lots of with the intentions of imparting their values to the next generation. as in, "we need to birth more democrat voters." this is so stupid, i can't believe people let them get away with saying such nonsense.

that's sick as if you can program a human to think like you simply because you birthed it! Ugh.

Hopefully the mother will hit menopause soon I watched their show and thought the only normal one was the oldest boy. Daddy needs neutering plainly.

Hey, as long as they pay their own way and don't count on public assistance, then 'whatever.' Seriously, though, I do think there is an undefined psychological disturbance on both parents' parts running underneath the surface. I've wondered what their response would be to any of their children who might be gay... On Sunday, I listened to Mitt Romney insist that he is 'pro-life' and that 'all life from conception on is sacred,' and many people feel this way, yet they have screaming fits about the state of public assistance, welfare, and Medicaid in this country. Adoption services are a joke, foster care is inept, and yet, 'all life is sacred.' Kind of like, "we'll get you here, but what happens to you after that is not our problem. If you become a thug, develop a hatred for society, fail to become an upstanding member of society, well, it's your single welfare mother's fault." Sheesh.
