Let's Be Honest Folks I found this local story interesting and wondered what people would really do. "The driver was tossing money from his window. Bills fluttered along westbound I-64, just past Military Highway. Drivers braked and grabbed the cash. Twenties. Fifties. Even $100 bills. Now police want it back." Apparently the driver started throwing money out the window of his car to cause a traffic jam on the interstate -- which it did so that he could elude the police. Now the police want everyone to return the money. So what would you do? As for my own answer...I would like to think that I would return the money but there would certianly be a temptation to keep it.

Where was the $ from? as in who owned it? That may be a factor in my decision. Certainly th epolice do not need ALL of it as evidence! Not an accusation, but there are many stories of "evidence" disappearing from evidence rooms. So if it was his, and he chose to toss it, I would love to have caught it, and it would be mine. Now if he robbed a little gorcery store or some elderly lady, I want them to get it all back and him to be beaten w/a big stick!

if the only crime was that they threw the cash which is what it looks like, i'd definitely keep the money. same if it was "drug money". if it was stolen money, i'd give it back.

if they know whose it is, the cops give it back drug money, on the other hand, well. the cops aren't going to give it back to the dealers (even though it's legitimately theirs, as far as i'm concerned). so i'd keep it :-)

someone at work told me a story about a friend that bought a couch from a thrift store. had the couch for a few years and then the couch started falling apart. that is when they noticed all the bundles of cash hidden in the couch!!! sounds like a made up story, but i sure like thinking about it. it would be great to discover that you had been sitting on thousands of dollars for years and never knew it...
