yes but its the blues
I was in a bookstore in Taos, NM. One day. Actually... I was just outside. It was locked. Five am in the morning. I had walked 70 miles to get there for a world heavyweight Poet Bout. Flat broke. Young lab intern. 19. Starving. Too cold to sleep. I would later fall asleep in an open field one block south of old Kit Carson's headstone ... the sign in the bookstore window said: Taos. Space Enough. Time Enough Sometimes, Gaijin-san.. I like to pretend I'm way above the earth, coming in close. Listening to the radio tune from station to station. I can see myself above Africa, listening to "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin...hearing the static.. bits and pieces of conversation... You know .... It's when you hit re-entry the really good stuff starts playing. ;)
